With California winter being err on the side of unpredictability, my sensitive skin takes quite the beating. Because I am still break out prone (thanks early 20s), I still use dermatologist prescribed serums, which can wreak havoc on my already confused combination skin. I had recently read an article in Glamour ( or maybe it was Allure?) about Avon’s Anew Clinical line; specifically raving about their Advanced Retexturizing Peel. I’m usually a Peter Thomas Roth kind of gal, but seeing as I just finished up my last Complexion Correcting Pad, I though I would give these a try. When I was browsing the Avon sight, I noticed they were having an Anew line deal of 2 products for $30, so I also decided to try their Overnight Hydration Mask as well.
I’ve always been someone who splurges on skin care considering my skin is sensitive & I have to be careful using new products because my skins’ reaction is always a coin-toss. I was however, extremely surprised with how well both of these products worked. The retexturing peel came in pads, and since they are saturated enough I decided to cut them in half to get twice as much use out of the pack and limit the amount of product going onto my face. They tingled a little, which worried me at first, but the next morning I noticed my skin was brighter, softer, and the little laugh lines I have around my eyes had completely disappeared.
The packaging itself is a little bit bulkier than my PTR peel, but the results were equal. They didn’t smell very strongly of product which is also a plus. After a few uses my skin was less dull, and certain dark spots had begun to fade. After applying the retexturing peel, I applied their overnight hydrating mask. I’ve never actually used a gel moisturizer before so this was a little interesting to get used to in terms of texture. It contains these moisture beads that dissolve into your skin as you apply which also was a different aspect for a moisturizer. When I woke up the next morning I could see that my skin had developed a little oil, so I was a little worried that I was going to break out from it. But to my surprise, after washing my face that morning my skin felt soft and fresh & I also didn’t end up breaking out. I think that a combination of the drying glycolic acid and the gel moisture mask worked together to prevent the other from over drying or over moisturizing. Definitely a good duo that work well with one-another.Overall I was very impressed with both products. I have never really been an Avon product user before, but I think that I will continue to use both of these product, especially the Glycolic Peel. I was especially impressed because Avon is a step above most cheaper drugstore products’ quality, but it also doesn’t burn a hole in your wallet in regards to price point. A very unique brand in the beauty industry, & a must try.
