It seems as though summer came and went in the span of a week. This past weekend we celebrated Labor Day here in the states, and with that comes new seasonal rules. One of which happens to be no more wearing whites.
Wearing White After Labor Day
As a native Californian, this rule never actually applied to my wardrobe until I moved away from home and to Paris, a big urban city. I personally live in whites, it’s a staple in my wardrobe. So when September rolls around, I’m never one to follow this rule. Luckily for me it has become less of a rule, and more of a narrow suggestion. Wearing whites into September is not only becoming more popular, but it easily adds an necessary lightness to any gloomy Autumn day.
Pairing with Classic Denim
Pairing your white pieces with your favorite denim can bring balance to your outfit as we transition into Fall without sacrificing your whites. Whether it’s your favorite crop flared jeans or your go-to denim jacket, mixing blue denim in with your whites adds more depth to your look & some warmth as well for the cooler Autumn nights.
Layering is another super easy way to get away with wearing white into the Fall. Whether its an all white ensemble layering a long vest over your favorite white blouse, or a simple white tee under this seasons trending slip dress; layering pieces both adds depth to your outfit and makes it more versatile for the transition into cooler weather.
Adding white pants to any outfit is super simple and adds a crispness to any ensemble. Between white trousers & white denim, they go with everything and are a no brainer way to keep wearing your whites straight into the Fall.
Mixing textures has been a technique French women have been utilizing for years and has recently begun to bloom here stateside. Mixing different textured white pieces adds a subtle je ne sais quoi to any outfit without looking over done. Adding a chunky knit can allow you to wear that silk summer skirt straight into Fall.
