Summer has arrived here in San Diego, and when summer arrives, so does everyone else. Everyone is always looking for the best places to Instagram wherever you go, especially on summer vacation. To help those who are looking for just that, I’ve decided to put together a list of the best Instagram spots in San Diego.
Being a native to San Diego, I’ve had countless opportunities to explore the city. Even after living here my entire life, I am always finding new spots and areas I’d never been to before. Below are just a few of the countless places that are worth taking a snap of.
Instagram in San Diego
📍La Valencia Hotel
Location: 1132 Prospect St, La Jolla, CA 92037
If you find yourself down in La Jolla Cove, you should walk on over to La Valencia Hotel. It is a hot spot for bloggers, and with good reason, this coraly-pink hotel is the cutest place to photograph for your Instagram. Make sure you go on a sunny day so that beautiful pink will pop against the blue sky!
Location: 8622 Kennel Way, La Jolla, CA 92037
The Scripps Pier sits smack dab in the middle of La Jolla and is easily accessible from La Jolla Shores Beach; making it one of the best instagram spots in San Diego. It is a hot spot for graduating UCSD students for grad photos & professional photographers alike. Make sure to check to tides before hand to get there when the water is at mid tide for the perfect picture.
📍Holy Matcha Green Tea Cafe
Location: 3118 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92104
This cafe is a newer addition to the North Park community, but has quickly become one of the most popular instagram spots in town. With its beachy aesthetic and californian color scheme, this cafe is perfect for an Instagram post. Make sure to order one of their drinks to include in your photos.
Pro Tip: Check out the bathroom before you leave. It’s sure to impress!
Location: Del Mar, California
Del Mar beach is one of the many beaches here in San Diego. The beaches sit right up against the train tracks and tend to be less crowded than those a little more south. Plus, if you’re in town during June – July 4th, go check out the San Diego County fair in the late afternoon so you can capture the fair when it lights up for the evening.
Pro Tip: If you have a dog, you should check out Del Mar Dog Beach while you’re down there.
Location: 1100 Orange Ave, Coronado, CA 92118
Coronado Island is a special place in San Diego. If you’re looking to escape the city for a few hours head down to The Hotel Del or take a walk through downtown Coronado. Go check out the post I wrote all about The Hotel Del Coronado for more information all about it!
📍Potato Chip Rock
Location: Ramona, CA 92065
If you’re looking for something sporty to do, go take a hike up to Potato Chip Rock. The hike itself is a great workout, and the reward at the end is perfect for an Instagram shot! Make sure to take lots of water and wear the appropriate gear!
Pro Tip: It can get really hot in Ramona during the summer, so make sure to check the weather before hand to be prepared for the heat!
📍Ho Chi Minh Beach Trail
Location: Ho Chi Minh Trail, La Jolla, CA 92037
This is one of my personal favorites on this list. This trail is hidden within the neighborhood of La Jolla, but is one of my favorite things to do during the summer. The trail itself isn’t tough, but make sure to wear shoes. The earth has been carved out into a beautiful canyon hike that has beautiful views perfect for photos.
Pro Tip: Make sure to keep any trash you have and throw it out when you get to the beach! Make sure to put in the effort to clean up and preserve the trail for everyone!
📍Carlsbad Flower Fields
Location: 5704 Paseo Del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92008
The Carlsbad Flower Field is a place you have to check out if you are ever in town during the Spring. The huge field is covered in beautiful flowers that bloom around April. It’s a popular place for bloggers and photographers alike for its picturesque blooms.
📍Sunset Cliffs Natural Park
Location: Ladera Street, San Diego, CA 92107
The last location for the best instagram spots in San Diego is Sunset Cliffs, a gorgeous natural park right up against the ocean. Locals love to come here during the summer to jump off the cliffs into the water during high tide, or to go for a walk along the cliffs. When the sun is out the water is crystal blue, perfect for that Insta shot.
Pro Tip: This place isn’t named Sunset Cliffs for nothing, go in time for the sunset for gorgeous photos during the golden hour.
So there it is! I hope you found this a helpful tool for all things Instagram in San Diego! As always, please comment below with any additional places or thoughts. Make sure to check back in to see more California Travel guide installments and to stay up to date of my adventures this summer.
